Thanks for answering the call of the valley ;)

The valley is calling your name.

In the middle of the Saskatchewan prairie lies an Oasis of mountain biking nestled in a quiet valley. Wascana Trails is the destination for many active local sport and adventure enthusiasts, and the location of the 16th Annual Wascana Challenge. Take the challenge and race or enjoy the best spectator course in Saskatchewan!

PLUS! The Wascana Challenge is now the "official un-official" Saskatchewan Single Speed Championship!
Slug it out to become Saskatchewan's first ever single speed champion. Only requirements are a genuine one geared bike and the legs to take you through a tough course with some punchy climbs and fast spin sections. Engraved beer mugs for first three hard men over the line. If there are any one geared ladies out there who want to hammer, drop us a line and we'll get some mugs made up for three of the toughest women on the flat lands.

The Venue and Race Course
The race course is located in Wascana Trails just northwest of Regina, SK.   This race course has a mix of everything including open flats, wooded downhills and climbs, as well as tricky technical sections. The race also has modified course sections for some categories that skip the tough sections.   One lap of the course is 6km.

Race Categories
No matter if you are a beginner who has never raced a mountain bike event before, or an elite series racer who has been racing for years, the Wascana Challenge is an event you will not want to miss.

There is a category for everyone, and you are free to choose any lap category you want. Your race category will include people of all ages and skill, combined to race the same distance as you. Each lap is approximately 8km of challenging race course, so choose wisely. If you are curious about ballpark finish times, check the results from previous years.

1 Lap is the beginner category and is perfect for anyone who is new to racing or unsure of a category. The race is short and you will have more than enough time to complete your race.

2 Laps is a race category that attracts riders of many different skill levels. Most of the participants enjoy mountain biking often during the season.

3 Laps is raced mostly by active athletes who train during the season.

4 Laps is the second highest category of racing we have to offer and is chosen by serious racers who haven't moved up to the top level.

5 Laps is the highest level of racing and participants are highly experienced racers including some of the best in Saskatchewan and Canada.

SingleSpeed Championship
Slug it out to become Saskatchewan's first ever single speed champion. Only requirements are a genuine one geared bike and the legs to take you through 4 laps of a tough course with some punchy climbs and fast spin sections. Elite racers opting for singlesped glory will need to come through the finish line on lap 4 and then head back onto the course for lap 5 to gain elite placing and points. Expert level singlespeeders rejoice, those "elite" guys might have to leave something in the tank for lap 5 that you can take advantage of. Engraved beer mugs for first three hard men over the line. If there are any one geared ladies out there who want to hammer, drop us a line and we'll get some mugs made up for three of the toughest women on the flat lands.

Training Races
If you are new to racing, the Wascana Challenge is a great way to break out and tackle your first race, but you may want to take advantage of our training series that runs every Wednesday night in Regina. These races are free with your Offroad Syndicate membership, come give it a try!
